International agreement to promote the development of triathlon


The Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) and the Saudi Arabian Triathlon Federation signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Friday, November 14, 2025, during the Islamic Games, a move considered highly significant in the international sports arena. The signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures from the International Triathlon Union (ITU), including Marisol Casado, Honorary President of the ITU, and Antonio Fernandez Armani, President of the ITU. The meeting was led by the presidents of the two federations: José Hidalgo, President of FETRI, and Meshal Al-Sulaiman, President of the Saudi Arabian Triathlon Federation.


The meeting, held in Saudi Arabia, resulted in the establishment of a partnership that represents a crucial step in the development of triathlon in both countries.


This historic agreement will contribute to enhancing sports and educational growth through three key areas of joint work:


• Training and development of trainers

• Developing and organizing tournaments

• Discovering talent and high-performance pathways

Under this agreement, Spain becomes a priority partner for Saudi Arabia in these strategic areas in the coming years, opening a new phase of opportunities, growth, and cooperation.
